A+L co-production Entertainment hits theaters today, starting with a limited run in New York and Ontario, and is also available on Demand, and on . The film premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival in January, and continued its festival run at SXSW and the New Directors/New Films Festival presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
Directed by Rick Alverson (The Comedy), Entertainment follows an aging comedian played by Gregg Turkington, as he plays a string of dead-end shows in the Mojave desert in an attempt to revive his dwindling career while en route to meet his estranged daughter. The film also stars John C. Reilly, Tye Sheridan, Michael Cera and Amy Seimetz.
The film has received positive reviews, including much praise for the film’s director. Variety calls Alverson, “one of the truly bold voices in the all-too-homogenous U.S. indie film scene,” and Village Voice notes, “Rick Alverson is a director who increasingly stands among the most essential working.” The The film is being distributed by Magnolia Pictures.
