“Orange is the New Bark” aims to get dogs from The Yard to your yard.

Arts+Labor ECD Erik Horn apparently hates sleeping, because Erik and his wife Kathy Horn found time to create an adoption video system for the Austin Humane Society. “” parodies the title sequence of Orange is the New Black (I don’t get it myself, but apparently it’s an Internet show on your TV? Crazy, right?) but every pooch in the video is available for adoption. Erik said, “We wanted to give back to the humane society without adopting another dog. We can’t foster because we end up keeping them. Kathy and I wanted to try to make an adoption video that was more light hearted and hopefully “share-able” than ones we were seeing online.”

Not only did they create the video, but on the Bark site, that other adoption agencies can use to easily replicate the video featuring their own dog roster. Just something to help shelters shine a spotlight on some dogs in need of a good home.

“We’re also huge fans of Orange is the New Black and the idea came while binge watching season 1 with our three dogs,” said Erik. “We’re hoping that while people are excited about the Season 2 premiere they’ll watch our version and find a furry friend to watch it with.”

Dogs and prison dramedies. Together again.
